QED Environmental Systems

Landfill & Environmental Gas Monitoring – GEM Pro and SEM5000

Effective landfill gas management requires reliable data from both the gas extraction system and the surrounding environment.

QED provides two complementary instruments for these tasks. The GEM Pro analyzer supports landfill gas well balancing and gas field management, while the SEM5000 enables fast and accurate detection of methane surface emissions.

Together, these instruments help operators maintain regulatory compliance, optimize gas extraction and document environmental performance.

Through Norsk Analyse, the systems are configured and supported for landfill operators, environmental consultants and regulatory monitoring applications.

Two Instruments for Complete Landfill Gas Monitoring

Landfill gas management typically requires two types of measurements: monitoring gas extraction wells and detecting methane emissions across the landfill surface.

QED provides dedicated instruments for both tasks.

QED GEM Pro

GEM Pro – Landfill Gas Analyzer for Well Monitoring and Balancing

The GEM Pro is a modular landfill gas analyzer designed for daily field operation.

The instrument measures methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen and several optional trace gases while also recording pressure and flow conditions. This allows operators to monitor gas wells, balance extraction systems and optimise landfill gas recovery.

Its modular architecture allows gas sensor modules to be replaced or upgraded directly in the field, reducing service downtime and maintaining calibration compliance.

SEM5000 – Surface Methane Emissions Monitor

The SEM5000 is designed for detecting methane emissions across landfill surfaces and infrastructure.

Using laser-based Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS), the instrument selectively measures methane without cross-gas interference. This allows operators to detect and quantify leaks quickly and accurately during emissions surveys.

Integrated GPS and data logging support regulatory reporting and environmental compliance documentation.
